From Blight to Emigration: The Irish Famine Legacy
As part of our WAU topic Hunger, Primary 6 and 7 stepped back in time to re-enact scenes from the Irish Famine during outdoor play. From brave voyages to the New World to hard work in the fields, the creativity on display was incredible!
Inspired by our class novel Under the Hawthorn Tree, pupils brought the past to life through powerful performances and imaginative role play. Leo took on the role of a savvy entrepreneur, even advertising his very own famine repellent! Meanwhile, the girls set sail on a boat bound for a better life across the ocean. A big thank you to Padraig and Conan for keeping things fair at the local shop and ensuring food was rationed equally.
Well done to everyone for your fantastic participation and enthusiasm!
