In World Around Us, our class has been focusing on the topic of food. Recently, we have been learning all about germs and food hygiene, and how important it is to keep ourselves safe when preparing and eating food.
As part of our investigations, we explored how and why food goes bad. We learned how Best Before and Use By dates help us know when food should not be eaten. The children discussed the difference between the two types of dates and discovered which kinds of foods each one is used for.
Everyone had the chance to look at real food packets to find these dates for themselves. This hands‑on activity helped us understand how to use date labels at home, too. Now we can all help our grown‑ups make safe food choices in the kitchen!
