📚✨ World Book Day in P3, P4 & P5 ✨📚
On Thursday 5th March, we had a brilliant time celebrating World Book Day in P3, P4 and P5! The children arrived in the most fantastic costumes, each one inspired by a favourite character or story. Well done to everyone for the amazing effort and creativity — you all looked incredible!
We began our day with Show and Tell, giving everyone the chance to share their book and explain their costume. It was wonderful to hear the children speak with such enthusiasm about their characters and stories.
Next, we turned our attention to autobiographies. We explored what an autobiography is and then imagined what the front cover of our own autobiography might look like. The children came up with thoughtful, imaginative designs that reflected their personalities and interests.
Later in the morning, we attended a whole-school World Book Day assembly. It was fantastic to see costumes from across the school and to celebrate our shared love of reading.
After assembly, we paired up with our Book Buddies and chose a cosy spot around the school to enjoy some quiet reading time together. It was lovely to see pupils of all ages sharing books, talking about stories, and enjoying reading in different spaces.
As our current class novel is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we continued the book-themed fun by using chocolate and sweets to create marvellous Willy Wonka–worthy inventions. The children’s ideas were imaginative, colourful and wonderfully wacky (but most importantly, tasty!)
To finish our exciting day, we joined the BBC Live Lesson for World Book Day, where we explored our individual Reading Vibe—the types of genres we enjoy, new styles we might like to try, and the places we feel happiest reading.
World Book Day was a fantastic celebration from start to finish. Thank you once again to everyone who brought such brilliant energy, creativity and effort to their costumes. It truly made the day magical!
