We have had a fantastic time in P3, P4 and P5 learning all about the Vikings! Over the past week, we began exploring Viking shields, discovering how they were made, how Vikings created their own paints, why shields were so important, and how they were used in battle.
We also learned how different Viking clans designed their shields in similar ways to show unity and belonging. Inspired by this, we designed our own shields using traditional Viking colours and patterns, carefully planning our ideas.
Today, we brought all of our learning to life by creating our very own shields. Using our designs as a guide, we mapped out our patterns and began painting. The children showed great creativity and effort throughout the process.
All of the finished shields look absolutely wonderful!
