🌿✨ Intergenerational Project with the Diamond Club: Making St. Brigid’s Crosses ✨🌿
Our pupils recently had the wonderful opportunity to take part in an intergenerational project with the Diamond Club, bringing together two generations to celebrate tradition, creativity, and community.
As part of our St. Brigid’s Day activities, members of the Diamond Club joined us in school to teach the children how to make traditional St. Brigid’s crosses. Armed with rushes and plenty of enthusiasm, pupils and visitors worked side‑by‑side, sharing stories, learning new skills, and enjoying each other’s company.
For many of our pupils, it was their first time learning how to make a cross, and they were inspired by the skill and patience of our older guests. The Diamond Club members shared memories of making crosses in their own childhoods, passing on not only the technique but also the meaning behind this much‑loved tradition.
The room was filled with chatter, laughter, and hands hard at work. It was a beautiful example of how learning can happen across generations, and how traditions are kept alive when shared together.
We are incredibly grateful to the Diamond Club for giving their time, wisdom, and kindness. This intergenerational project has reminded us of the power of community and the importance of keeping our heritage alive. We look forward to many more opportunities to learn together!
