🎠Exploring Mischief and Mayhem in The Twits 📚
This term, Primary 4 and 5 have been diving into the wonderfully wicked world of The Twits by Roald Dahl. Our focus has been on the outrageous tricks Mr and Mrs Twit play on each other, sparking lots of laughter and lively discussion. This week, we zoomed in on the moment four boys climb into Mr Twit’s tree and become stuck to the branches—right before Mr Twit threatens to bake them into a pie!
Using our drama skills, we brought this tense and hilarious scene to life. We created freeze frames capturing the boys’ terrified expressions as Mr Twit approached, and another showing their frantic escape. The energy and creativity in the room were fantastic!
To deepen our understanding, we stepped into the shoes of key characters—a police officer, a news reporter, and one of the boys—and imagined how the story might be reported in the media. Each group crafted and performed a dramatic news segment, blending storytelling with performance.
It’s been a brilliant way to explore character, tension, and humour through drama, and we can’t wait to see where our next literary adventure takes us!
