🕺🎉✨ Decades Disco ✨🎉🕺

6th Feb 2026

Over the past number of months, our class has been travelling through time as part of our Arts topic on the 'Dancing through the Decades', exploring everything from the 1950s all the way to the 2000s. Pupils have been learning about the fashion, music, dancing, musicians, and defining features that made each decade unique. We’ve really enjoyed discovering how styles changed, how technology evolved, and how each era had its own personality.

To celebrate the end of our topic, we held an unforgettable Decades Disco, and the excitement in the classroom was electric! Everyone chose a decade to represent, researched the fashion of the time, and came to school dressed head‑to‑toe in retro outfits. From flares and denim jackets to neon leg warmers, velvet tracksuits, scrunchies, and bucket hats, the creativity on display was amazing.

We kicked off the day with our very own Retro Catwalk, where each pupil strutted down the runway, showed off their outfit, and explained the inspiration behind each item they chose. It was a brilliant mix of style, confidence, and 20th‑century flair!

Next, we explored retro video games, including favourites such as Pac‑Man and Tetris. Pupils loved seeing how games from the past looked and felt compared to what they play today. There was plenty of friendly competition — and lots of laughs — as everyone tried their hand at these classic challenges.

After travelling through the past, we turned our attention to the future. Pupils imagined what fashion, technology, and everyday life might look like in years to come. They designed futuristic outfits, gadgets, and inventions, blending creativity with everything they had learned from the decades.

We finished our day with a lively Decades Disco party, dancing to hit songs from each era and celebrating all the amazing learning we’ve done. It truly was a blast!

Our Decades Disco was an exciting, colourful, and memorable way to bring our topic to a close, and we’re so proud of the enthusiasm and creativity shown by every pupil.
