💧 🔬 Science Investigation: Oil, Water & Lava Lamps! ✨🌈
In Science this week, we carried out an exciting investigation to explore what happens when oil and water are mixed. We quickly discovered an interesting fact — oil and water never mix!
To begin, we added food colouring to our oil and gave it a good stir. The children loved watching the colours swirl around inside the oil. Then came the big moment: we carefully poured our colourful oil into a container of water to see what would happen.
To our amazement, the oil stayed separate from the water and began to float, creating a fantastic lava lamp effect! Everyone was fascinated as the coloured droplets bobbed up and down. No matter how much we shook, mixed, or waited, the two liquids would not mix together.
Everyone was very excited to see this scientific phenomenon in action and to learn why some liquids simply don’t mix!
